Session 1 "Marching Camp":
June 24 and July 1, 2011
A two-day camp!
9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Marching Band: In this special 2 day class, students will learn the
fundamentals of parade style marching. They will learn basic steps, playing
style, marching band music, and drills to be performed in the City of Novato's
4th of July parade. Students need to wear comfortable outdoor-style
clothing. Sunglasses, sunscreen and  water bottles are encouraged. One
school-year of band experience is required. No marching band experience is

Session 2b "Middle and High School Students":
June 20 - June 23, and June 27- June 30, 2011

This session is designed to provide a wide variety of musical experiences to
students entering 7th - 12th grade in the fall. Classes will progress at a pace
that is challenging, yet still keeps the fun atmosphere of a summer camp.
Students are welcome to register for as many classes as they want.

Jazz Band

Students will
participate in an
exciting jazz band
working on both
ensemble playing and
improvisational solos.
The jazz band will be
split into 2 bands by
ability level.
Students must be
entering 7th –
12th grade in the
fall and have
played a band

Lunch

During lunch-time
students will eat
lunch, then participate
in sports activities or
relax. Lunch will be
supervised. Students
must bring their own
lunch. There is no fee
for participating in the
lunch-time activities.

Choir. In this class,

how jazz choirs differ
from concert choirs
